How to Install Your Neck Guards

Step 1

Wrap the guard around the trombone and lace the cord through the top holes from the inside out. Pull cord taut.

Step 2

Continue lacing up the hand guard the way you would lace up a pair of shoes. It should look like this. Continue until you reach the bottom.

Step 3

When you reach the bottom, cross the cords over each other, and tie. You can also loop the excess cord to the other side before tying. Trim off excess cord. Add a dab of glue to the knot.

*use your shortest cord for the neck, unless neck is longer than 4 in. For necks longer than 4 in, use longest chord.

How to Install Your Hand Guards

Step 1

Follow the instructions for installing the neck guard, but start on the handle portion near the mouthpiece. Work your way towards the slide.

Step 2

When you reach the end of the handle portion, cross the cords over each other before continuing with the slide portion.

Step 3

Finish lacing and tie off as described above.

*use longest chord for right hand guard and second longest for left hand guard
